AMZ Advisers Is Now Part of Chief Media: What It Means for Your Account

By Mike Begg·September 1, 2026·4 min read

On August 17, 2026, Chief Media acquired AMZ Advisers and took a stake in Reach Social Commerce. Adweek reported the deal and Chief Media put out a release confirming it. Deal terms weren't disclosed. I'm not going to speculate on the ones that weren't.

I wrote about the logic behind the deal, from my side of the table, in what it means when a 25-year agency buys your agency. That post is about why the deal made sense and what makes an agency worth buying. This one is narrower. It's for the people who actually have money running through an AMZ Advisers account and want a straight answer to two questions: is my brand safe here, and will this still be the agency I signed up with.

Is My Brand Safe Here?

Yes. Here's the specific version of that answer instead of the reassuring one.

The account manager on your business didn't change. The reporting you get didn't change. The way we run PPC, listings, and account health for your brand didn't change. If you had a weekly call before August 17, you still have it now, with the same person.

What changed is ownership, one level up, above anything you interact with. AMZ Advisers now sits inside Chief Media instead of standing alone. That's a change to the org chart, not to who touches your account or how they do it.

I'll be direct about the limit of that statement too. I'm no longer the sole decision maker for AMZ Advisers the way I was before August 17. I can tell you how things stand today and what I intend, but I can't hand you an open-ended guarantee about a company I don't fully control anymore. What I can tell you is that nothing about your account's day to day has moved, and if that changes, you'll hear it from your account manager or from me directly, not find out by accident.

Will AMZ Advisers Still Be AMZ Advisers?

As of today, yes. AMZ Advisers keeps operating under its own name and keeps serving the same clients it served before the acquisition. That's the part Chief Media has publicly confirmed, and it's the part I'm confirming again here.

I'm not going to tell you what AMZ Advisers looks like in three years, because nobody can honestly promise that about any agency, acquired or not. What I can point to is the closest thing I have to precedent: what happened after I bought Reach Social Commerce. The operator stayed on. The team stayed through the transition. Clients got more resources behind the same work, not a different agency wearing the old name. I ran that deal from the buyer's side and that's the standard I hold myself to now that I'm on the other side of one.

The Part I Got Wrong

Here's the part I'm not going to dress up. The deal closed on August 17. This post is going up on September 1. That's a two-week gap where AMZ Advisers had material news about the ownership of the company managing your account, and we didn't tell you.

That wasn't a strategy. It was an oversight, and it's a bad one, because the people most entitled to hear about a change like this first are the clients whose accounts are actually affected by it, not the trade press. If you found out about this from Adweek before you heard it from us, that's on me.

The fix isn't a promise to communicate better in the abstract. It's this post existing, and it's the line below being real.

What to Do If You Have Questions

Don't fill out a form. If you're an existing client and you want to talk through what this means for your specific account, contact your account manager directly, or reach out to me. If you're evaluating AMZ Advisers and this is the first you're hearing about any of it, here's how working with us actually works and here's what we do day to day on Amazon accounts, acquisition or not.

I'd rather answer this in a five-minute call than have you guess.

Frequently asked questions

Is my brand safe with AMZ Advisers after the Chief Media acquisition?

Yes. The team that manages your account, the account structure, and the reporting you get did not change. What changed is who owns AMZ Advisers one level up. Day to day, nothing about how your account is run is different.

Will AMZ Advisers still be AMZ Advisers?

As of today, yes. AMZ Advisers keeps operating and keeps serving the same clients under the same name. That is the extent of what Chief Media has publicly confirmed, and I'm not going to speculate beyond it.

Why didn't AMZ Advisers tell clients when the deal closed?

We should have and didn't. The deal closed on 2026-08-17 and there was no proactive client communication at the time. This post is that communication, two weeks late.
